As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, I am beyond proud of our team and the quality of work we have accomplished and the lives we have touched in the process. At SR/A, our designers thrive in a culture of collaborative creativity and excellence. By keeping the needs of the end user forefront in our mind and delving deeply into the ins and outs of each project we are able to develop designs that not only reflect the individual identity and brand of each project but also create a meaningful and memorable experience within the space. I appreciate the wealth of opportunity we’ve had over the years and the wonderful relationships we’ve developed along the way. Here’s to the next 20 years of design excellence!
President & CEO
SR/A (short for Sabine Roy and Associates) began as a partnership between designer Sabine Roy and her husband, architect Sean Saidi. In the days before founding, SR/A was merely a passion and concept that began while the pair were working in New York City. Sabine envisioned a firm that would provide personalized, residential style aesthetics to commercial and hospitality projects by way of her design experience and Sean’s architectural expertise.
As the company’s 10 year anniversary approached, Sabine still felt something was missing: a retail gallery to compliment the firm, similar to a prior business setup she was afforded in New York. Sabine searched for a space that could fulfill such a demand for months, until a former client led her to an available property in downtown Bethesda. After extensive renovations, SR/A moved into its new location on Wisconsin Avenue in 2013. Shortly after, La Collection came to fruition as the retail gallery of SR/A, housing vintage antiques, unique furniture and one-of-a-kind accessories.
Throughout the course of 15 years, SR/A experienced tremendous change in infrastructure and growth in achievement. What began as a trio with one project morphed into a thriving, close-knit team with more than 30 successfully completed projects. During this time, SR/A was actively involved in the community by hosting annual charity events (such as its annual dog adoption with City Dogs Rescue) and regular art receptions featuring local artists. By developing strong, lasting relationships with clients and industry leaders, SR/A made its mark on the community by offering top-notch service and striking design projects.
Though SR/A has always included renovations in our list of services, the slow down in new construction created by COVID-19 enabled our renovation division to grow by leaps and bounds Officially know as SR/A Too, our renovation division prides itself on providing personalized customer service while delivering innovative designs tailored to the needs and budget of each client. 2020 was a year of change for the world, and SR/A was no exception. La Collection, the firm’s retail gallery, closed and the firm’s headquarters moved from downtown Bethesda to Chevy Chase, MD.
As our reach and growth expand, SR/A remains committed to it’s roots—pairing a strong architectural focus with boutique designs tailored to the end user for each and every project. Diversifying project types and market locations is a focus for the firm’s next generation of leaders. While looking to the future, SR/A continues to cultivate a supportive, collaborative team culture in the present, including embracing a hybrid workplace. Above all, we continue to be grateful for our past success and thankful to those who supported us along the way.
Success that's driven by the passion of our clients.
