At SR/A we aim to create a culture of collaborative creativity and excellence. Our boutique approach allows our team to delve deeply into the ins and outs of each project, resulting in designs that reflect the unique identity and brand of each project. I am proud of the quality of work we’ve accomplished over the past 15 years, and look forward to more to come!

Our history

Spring 2003, Washington, D.C.

SR/A (short for Sabine Roy and Associates) began as a partnership between designer Sabine Roy and her husband, architect Sean Saidi. In the days before founding, SR/A was merely a passion and concept that began while the pair were working in New York City. Sabine envisioned a firm that would provide personalized, residential style aesthetics to commercial and hospitality projects by way of her design experience and Sean’s architectural expertise.

December 2013, Bethesda, MD

Despite SR/A’s burgeoning success, Sabine still felt something was missing: a retail gallery to compliment the firm, similar to a prior business setup she was afforded in New York. Sabine searched for a space that could fulfill such a demand for months, until a former client led her to an available property in downtown Bethesda. After extensive renovations, SR/A moved into its new location on Wisconsin Avenue in 2013. Shortly after, La Collection came to fruition as the retail gallery of SR/A, housing vintage antiques, unique furniture and one-of-a-kind accessories.

Spring 2018, Bethesda, MD

Throughout the course of 15 years, SR/A experienced tremendous change in infrastructure and growth in achievement. What began as a trio with one project morphed into a thriving, close-knit team with more than 30 successfully completed projects. SR/A got involved in the community by participating in numerous charity events, and still continues to work for the community by hosting annual events such as its annual dog adoption with City Dogs Rescue. By developing strong, lasting relationships with clients and local artists, SR/A made its mark on the community by offering top-notch service and striking design projects.

Present Day, Bethesda, MD

SR/A will continue to provide quality work for our clients by pairing a strong architectural focus with a commitment to tailored, boutique designs for each and every project. We are more dedicated and devoted than ever and are committed to ensuring our clients consistently receive the best service. With the launch of our small business division, SR/A TOO, we look to the future and aim to bring our signature style to even more building segments such as senior living and student housing and the ever-growing renovation market. Regardless of where this journey takes us, we are thankful for each and every heart-felt connection that has given meaning to our work and for all of our supporters that have helped make SR/A the firm that it is today.

We appreciate the creativity and sense of partnership with which the excellent SR/A team approached the interior design for our apartment community at Fenwick. Their design responded beautifully to the vision that had been established for the project while also respecting the budgetary prerogatives that were set before them.

Sarah Davidson, Partner

Insight Property Group

I would like to take a moment to share a few comments on behalf of SR/A. During the latter part of 2013, I was introduced to Sabine Roy and her staff. The warmth, sincerity and professionalism that was shown to my colleagues and I then is the same consistent way we are treated today.

Nate Dunn, Construction Manager

MRP Realty

We had an amazing experience with SR/A Interior Design. The consultants were fast in response, and provided beautiful and luxurious selections to meet the needs of our interior renovation. We will certainly use SR/A again for future projects.

Washington Property Company uses SR/A for interior design on many of our multifamily projects. The combination of Sabine’s artistic flair and her partner Sean’s architectural space planning and attention to detail make for a well-coordinated project for the developer as well as a product that is well-received by the marketplace. It is a joy to work with them because they love what they do and the results show it.

Working with the folks at SR/A is a privilege. I have worked with many interior designers in over 25 years in the architectural visualization industry and their interior design work is the most creative and unique that I have ever seen. Not only that, but Sabine Roy has created a culture of precise organization and detailed communication that is unrivaled.
