The team at Smile Bright Dentistry approached us with the desire to create a more hospitable, less sterile dentist office environment that met the needs of its practitioners and made patients feel at ease. To achieve this, SR/A envisioned a spa-like atmosphere using calming neutral tones infused with biophilic elements and pops of color. The space planning is optimized through a central corridor around which exam rooms, ancillary support functions and storage are arranged. An organic-looking ceiling at the entry extends all the way to the back to provide fluidity while at the same time offering patients a visual wayfinding cue. Wayfinding is further emphasized by large, backlit exam room numbers and visual repetition of wall and ceiling elements. In the examination rooms, overhead projection screens with calming scenes depicting nature were incorporated to sooth and calm patients during their dental procedure.
