Senior living has evolved over time and gained the spotlight for its increased innovation and diligence. These improvements are making a significant impact on enhancing the quality of life, comfort, safety, and overall well-being for our loved ones. SR/A interior design has been leading the way in transforming senior living spaces, using our expertise to create environments that truly enhance well-being. In this blog, we will explore SR/A’s approach to creating innovative spaces for senior living.
Creating an Impression
Making a memorable first impression is crucial for drawing in senior residents, no matter the project’s size or budget. A perfect example of this is SR/A’s current project, Wagner, which offers affordable senior living without compromising quality. SR/A aimed to enhance the building’s appeal and add a touch of luxury by prioritizing ample and attractive lighting throughout the space. This not only elevates the sense of luxury but also helps open the area, creating a seamless flow for senior residents.
Adding greenery was another important aspect of our design, as it fosters a welcoming atmosphere and brings a touch of the outdoors inside for the well-being of the seniors. Additionally, we carefully selected tasteful furniture, considering details such as low-pile rugs, high-quality furnishings, and inviting office spaces to complete the design.

Creating a functional layout
When it comes to senior living, safety and accessibility are paramount. At SR/A Interior Design, we prioritize these aspects to ensure that our spaces not only look beautiful but are also functional. We understand that slips and falls are a common concern; therefore, we opt for non-slip flooring options throughout the public spaces that will provide better traction and help minimize the risk of accidents. Accessibility is another key aspect of our layouts. We ensure wide corridors and enough room to maneuver for ease of mind and accessibility. SR/A incorporates other helpful designs such as lowered countertops, step-free entrances, wide doorways, ergonomic furniture, and other details to assist in a healthier quality of life.

Creating a sense of Community
At SR/A, we believe that creating welcoming communal spaces is just as important as enhancing individual living areas. Our goal is to design environments where seniors can easily connect and build a sense of community. We focus on comfortable seating, versatile shared areas, and dedicated spots for group activities to encourage interaction and a lively atmosphere.
We also understand the value of art in bringing people together, so we feature pieces from local art centers. This not only adds a distinctive touch but also creates opportunities for residents to bond over shared interests and connect with the broader community. By thoughtfully crafting these communal spaces, SR/A helps seniors feel connected and truly at home.
