As we say goodbye to 2023, it is time to reflect on the past year in the construction and design industry and how SR/A has worked in that dynamic and ever-changing space. If I am being honest, it has not exactly been an easy ride. From inflation and the rising costs of materials and goods to monetary tightening due to high-interest rates; causing a slowdown in new construction, it’s been a wild and sometimes tough journey for SR/A this year.
Thankfully, our work on renovation projects has stayed strong. Perhaps even stronger than in years past. “Can’t sell? Improve!” seems to have been the motive for many condos and apartments this year. With interest rates being high, owners continue to see the value in investing in their current properties instead of buying new ones. Looking at experts’ economic analysis, it seems this current state may continue in the first quarter of 2024 with optimism for improvements in the other three quarters, with a strong outlook for 2025. Fingers crossed!
Looking ahead to 2024, I foresee lots of positive evolution for SR/A. Change is inevitable and it brings new opportunities for us to shine. SR/A is opening our arms to other commercial sectors such as medical and other professional offices, hospitality projects such as investment residential projects, short term rentals etc. The impact of SR/A’s younger management is positively felt, and I look forward to vibrant growth of the company in 2024.
As we wind down 2023, I am reminded that the spirit of giving and supporting those around us is a positive force in both our individual and collective creativity at SR/A, indeed, one of SR/A’s core values is humanity, whereby we always strive to make our designs about and for people. Beyond design, we at SR/A have a long history of supporting those organizations working to do the most good for members of our communities including our furry friends with our adoption and fundraising events supporting City Dogs and City Kitties Rescue.
This year and into 2024, SR/A staff are working closely with members of the nonprofit, Meals on Wheels America to help them with the interior design of their office renovation project in Crystal City, Virginia. It is such a pleasure and honor to create the spaces for those working to address senior hunger and isolation throughout the country. By providing funding, programming, education, research and advocacy, Meals on Wheels America empowers its local member programs to strengthen their communities, one senior at a time.
We are looking forward to seeing the beautiful office space come alive to provide Meals on Wheels America staff with a refreshed, vibrant, and comfortable workspace. In that spirit of humanity that is central to SR/A’s values and in the spirit of giving back to our communities, I wanted to share with you information about the organization’s year-end giving campaign in the hope you too are inspired to help those in need. See below for more information on Meals on Wheels America’s current fundraising campaign.
