We had our wonderful staff pow wow yesterday. I love this once-a-month opportunity to get together in person and have face-to-face conversations. We discussed many important topics and made plans to activate the follow-up actions. Then someone said, “let’s do xyz the first week of October.” I almost fell off my bar stool. OCTOBER!
How can it almost be October?
For one we have been keeping quite busy with a number of projects and instinctively the mind focuses on the deadlines calendar, forgetting the actual calendar. All the progress we have made designing new construction projects, documenting others, overseeing construction, installing finished projects, and meeting with clients, architects, other trades, and consultants must have eaten up the days and weeks.
I say it often, but nothing is truer, I am proud of the SR/A team. We are not a large firm, I never wanted SR/A to be a large operation, and yet the 14 of us managed to handle the work on the boards; 10 renovations consisting of mostly condo buildings in various states of updating, 7 large new construction projects in various states of design, 2 projects in Revit construction documentation, 2 projects under construction administration, some other entering their FF&E process period, while a couple of projects are at the install phase. That does not even account for our “Fresh and Full” program that handles older projects and help keep them in tip top shape and highly competitive the multi-family housing sector.
Looking back at all this, it is remarkable and no wonder that the third quarter of the year has passed by. How did we even accomplish all that in three months? Meanwhile, the team kept cool and carried on with a good attitude and supported each other. We did have a couple of deadlines that kept a few of us working into wee hours but nothing a day off could not fix. Great job SR/A Team!
The fall is promising a different type of work as the projects progress and move into their next phases, but hopefully we will be “comfortably busy” and not more. After all, we have a few fun ideas to upgrade our design presentations that we would also like to set in play, and we will need a few hours to concentrate on that. What are they? … Top secret 😉…
Happy Fall to all!
