Some years transform you. Whether it’s because of marriage, a new child or a change of work, these are life-changing years. Such was 2018 for SR/A.
In January, I told the team that I felt different about this new year. It was not going to be more of the same – though I don’t remember a year that was more of the same. Still, I awaited with anticipation the arrival of all the new and exciting unknown that was coming our way …
It did not start quite as glorious as I expected, but you would not have known it from watching us all work. We successfully expanded on our knowledge (i.e. number crunching, analytics, marketing, blogging, graphics, etc.) and experimented with a new exhibition concept in the gallery that provided showings of local artists and kept all pieces under $750, which helped us make the point that art is accessible to all, and in the end we had the most successful opening party ever. We started a new division called SR/A TOO, that now focuses on smaller projects (i.e. professional offices) and renovations and is growing by leaps and bounds. We made big and small decisions, hired brilliant consultants to advise us and raise our horizon, and by this end of the year we are in a completely different frame of mind, with a variety of interesting projects, new staff members, promoted members, and the company poised for rocket-like growth.
Indeed, 2018 brought all that I thought it might and more. I am thrilled, and my heart is cheerful in this Holiday Season.
What am I expecting from 2019? I am not sure yet. I do know that there will be more change because it is already planned. I know that we will be busy and will need to be strategic. I hope the economy remains as good as it has been, and I look forward to some projects coming to life while starting new ones.
Other than that, I wish for the essentials, the base of it all: the health of my work family, home family and all of you who read this page.
Wishing all a cozy and happy holiday and a …
Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
